Calling budding poets, writers, performers, listeners and lovers of the spoken word alike!
Join us for a celebration of the spoken word at the Campbelltown ArtHouse, 7:30pm on Friday 12 May 2018.
'May We Say' will kick off with a poetry showcase from some well-versed poets followed by an open-mic segment where young people aged 15 to 25 are invited to take the mic and perform their own poetry.
FREE entry. Tea, coffee and a light supper will be provided.
All are welcome to attend as audience members, however due to mature content including coarse language and adult themes it is highly recommended that those under 15 years are accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Open Mic component is only open to young people aged 15 to 25.
Guidelines for Open Mic performers:
15 to 25yrs only. New and emerging poets/performers are very welcome. There is no theme. No poem is too short. This is NOT a competition however Campbelltown YAC may present awards for outstanding work. If you are not comfortable performing your own piece, you are welcome to nominate someone to read your work on your behalf however the poet must be acknowledged.
Guidelines for Audience Members:
This event is intended to be a supportive and safe space for new or emerging poets/performers to have the opportunity to take the stage. Please listen to and be respectful of ALL poets/performers.
This event is brought to you by the Campbelltown Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and is part of Campbelltown Council's Celebrate the Arts Festival.
